BURNING MAN ELEPHANT PROJECT (FREE EVENT)
Saturday, June 18, 10 am to 1 pm
As a part of a worldwide project to create something quite extraordinary, Beacon Art Studios will be hosting an event of self-expression for childrenage 7 to 12 . Elephant Expressions, is a Project of reVITALize, a Burning Man collective, and is about nurturing the creative arts of children all over the world. 500 small, white vinyl elephants have been sent to teachers and artists throughout the world including Kenya, India, Israel, Mexico, Australia and Brazil, to name a few. 20 of the elephants have found their way to Beacon and are waiting to be transformed.
Beacon Art Studios is inviting children to come to the studio on Saturday to use their natural creative abilities to transform the white vinyl elephants into unique symbols of their imagination. The children will be asked to decorate the elephant as a self-portrait; a depiction of their inner truth, not as a reflection of their outward aesthetic. Using paint, fabric, recycled materials or nature itself, the children are encouraged to know no boundaries.
The ideals of art and humanity expressed by the Burning Man Community, and mirrored by Beacon Art Studios, are self expression, communal effort and participation.
This is a free project I have 20 elephants first come basis.
